Gone with the Wind is still a masterpiece no matter what anyone says. Even if its ideals are outdated. Of course the south was wrong for owning slaves and the confederate flag does not age well. Still, Gone with the Wind is a visual marvel that is not to be missed. As most of you know already. I’m a film buff/film student. So the nearly 4 hour running time didn’t bother me at all. I was very well invested in the movie. For starters, Gone with the Wind is about the Civil War and how it affected people at the time. At the center of the story is a romance. The main character is Scarlett O’Hara. She really got on my nerves because she was always pining over the same guy. Which got pretty annoying considering how right Rhett Butler is for her. Despite that, Gone with the Wind is a massive movie. I wish I could have seen it in the theaters. It’s even more impressive when you consider that color wasn’t used nearly as much in the 30’s. Especially not for a 4 hour movie. The other reason Gone with the Wind is important is because it was the first movie to have an African american win an Oscar for acting. Gone with the Wind is just too important a film to ignore.
