Nice Guys Finish First

Nice Guys is one of the best comedies of 2016. It was refreshing to watch an original movie that was genuinely good. It was directed by Shane Black. A man known mostly for directing nontraditional Christmas movies (he still sneaks Christmas in here though). Nice Guys is set in the 70’s and gets everything right. It’s primarily about two detectives who attempt to unravel a mystery involving a missing pornstar (it is the 70’s after all). Where the movie really benefits from, is the striking chemistry between Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling. I swear Ryan Gosling should do more comedies, he’s hilarious. Russell Crowe, a mostly dramatic actor, is also surprisingly funny. Another strong point in the movie is the breakout performance by then 14 year old Angourie Rice. A character which reminded me a lot of Penny from Inspector Gadget. The action is pretty good too. I would consider Nice Guys to be high recommendation.
