Ghost is a love story that transcends death itself. It gives an honest and possibly accurate depiction of the afterlife. Specifically what it might look like to be lifted to Heaven or dragged to Hell. Ghost is about a couple who become separated after the man’s apparent murder. However, he cannot move on because he has unfinished business. Ghost has the distinction of showing us how much two people love each other in the short time-span before his death. Which they more than achieve with the famous pottery sequence. The reason Ghost works so well is because of the tone. Without the welcomed performance of Whoopi Goldberg, the movie would have been too depressing. She manages to inject humor into a dark subject. Many will consider Ghost to be the best romantic fantasy ever, and to that I say ditto.
