Puttin’ on the Ritz

Young Frankenstein is Mel Brooks at his best. Before his passing, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was the only movie I saw Gene Wilder in. My parents suggested that Young Frankenstein be the second. Frankenstein’s monster was actually my favorite monster growing up. So I knew everything there was to know about the only two good movies (Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein). Young Frankenstein is done with such pitch perfect comedy and affectionate homage. Mel Brooks isn’t my all time favorite comedian, but Young Frankenstein is without a doubt his funniest.
