It’s Just been Revoked

Lethal Weapon 2 effectively packs on a lethal dose of action and comedy. Making for an action sequel that actually lives up to expectations. Of course it does help that the entire cast and crew returned. Mel Gibson and Danny Glover’s buddy cop chemistry has only gotten better with age. This time LAPD Sergeants Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh attempt to put a stop to a group of South African drug dealers. Who they can’t touch since they’re part of the Afrikaner apartheid government, and therefore have diplomatic immunity.

So Riggs and Murtaugh are instead assigned to protect a federal witness named Leo Getz. One of the most annoying movie characters ever. Due to Joe Pesci’s hyperactive performance. He’s mostly just there to get on their nerves and complain about how “They f*ck you at the drive-thru.” Until Leo becomes useful by informing them about the South Africans. Where we discover their connection in the death of Riggs wife. They also kill his new lady love. Which leads to him seeking revenge, but Murtaugh won’t let his buddy go it alone.

Lethal Weapon 2 is much more over-the-top with even crazier action scenes. Before Lethal Weapon 2, I never thought there could be a bomb in my toilet, but now I check every time. It’s as tense as it is hilarious. The funniest scene though would have to be Murtaugh’s daughter doing a condom commercial. It all concludes with an awesome shoot ’em up followed by a cheesy one liner, “It’s just been revoked.” Lethal Weapon 2 plays to its strengths.
